How to sync your Samsung Health data to Google Fit

The Samsung Health app is an excellent tool for tracking your fitness data and metrics. Unfortunately, it doesn’t integrate with many third-party fitness apps and services. This can be frustrating, especially if you’re looking for a more unified fitness tracking experience.

Fortunately, it’s possible to sync your Samsung Health data to Google Fit. By following a few simple steps, you can enjoy a seamless and integrated fitness tracking experience across your devices and apps.

First, make sure that both apps are installed and set up on your phone. Then, download and install the third-party app Health Sync. Once the app is installed, follow the setup prompts. Once you’ve completed the setup process, your Samsung Health and Google Fit will be able to communicate with each other.

Step 1: Download the third-party app Health Sync
Since Google Fit isn’t available on Samsung’s Tizen-based Gear smartwatches, owners have to rely on third-party apps like Health Sync or Apple’s HealthKit if they want to sync their fitness data with their phones. Health Sync is the most popular Android app for syncing fitness and wellness data.

Health Sync works by connecting to the secure authorization pages of fitness apps and platforms, such as Google Fit, Samsung Health, Coros, Oura Ring, FatSecret, Garmin, Runalyze, Strava or Under Armour (MapMyRun and other MapMy.. apps). Health Sync does not store any personal data on the device or on servers.

The first one week of using Health Sync is free, after which you can subscribe to the app or purchase a permanent license. The license costs $8 per year.

Step 2: Link your Google account with Health Sync
Unlike Samsung Health, Google Fit can sync your activity data with a wide range of third-party fitness apps and devices. Syncing your Samsung Health data with Google Fit is easy and convenient, and it can help you get a more comprehensive view of your fitness tracking data.

The first step is to download the third-party app Health Sync from the Google Play Store. After installing the app, open it and follow the on-screen instructions to link your Google account with Health Sync. When prompted, select the apps you want to grant access to your fitness data. After you’ve selected the data you want to sync, tap Sync. Then, you can use your Google Fit account to track your fitness activity on a variety of Android smartphones and smartwatches.

Step 3: Select the data you want to sync
If you have a Samsung Galaxy device and want to use the more comprehensive Google Fit platform instead of Samsung Health, there’s a simple way to make that happen. Thanks to a new app called Health Sync, you can sync data between the two platforms.

Health Sync is available on the Play Store and offers a one-week free trial. After that, you’ll need to either subscribe or purchase a license for the app.

Once you’ve linked your Google account with Health Sync, tap the three-dot main menu icon to open the app’s settings page. On this page, you’ll see a list of the various data sources that can be synced to Google Fit. Select the ones you want to sync and tap Sync. The process should take a few minutes to complete.

Step 4: Tap Sync
Once you’ve linked your Samsung Health profile with Google Fit, you can sync data from Samsung to Google and enjoy a seamless and integrated fitness tracking experience. Just make sure to sync only when on Wi-Fi to avoid using up your mobile data.

If you don’t want to use a third-party app, you can also try Google’s official solution: Health Connect. Health Connect lets you transfer data from a variety of apps and devices to Google Fit.

Just download the app and follow the on-screen instructions to get started. Then, select the data you want to sync. Be aware that steps will not sync — that’s because Samsung prohibits third-party apps from moving step data to Google Fit. However, you can still sync other types of data from Samsung to Google Fit.
